About Me
Sameera Qureshi
Sameera Qureshi, MS, OTR, 200-RYT, is an Occupational Therapist, Registered Yoga Instructor, and Sexual Health Educator.
Over the last twelve years of her career, Sameera has worked within Muslim communities serving students with special needs, and educating Muslim youth, adults, parents, and community leaders about mental and sexual health.
Her new initiative, Sexual Health for Muslims provides spiritually grounded sexual health education for Muslims from the comfort of their own home. Sameera focuses on teaching about healthy relationships and marriage, pelvic health, menstruation, and intimacy. She is offering sexual health education consultations for Muslims who are seeking information about their bodies. Sameera provides information in an accessible and empathetic manner, and supports finding professional health services, if needed.
Sameera has also been teaching yoga for the last three years, at local studios and within Muslim community spaces in the Washington, DC area. Her professional background as an Occupational Therapist and health educator are brought into her classes to create safe, accessible, and supportive yoga spaces. Sameera's classes provide a balance of grounding and challenge, facilitating greater self-awareness on and off your yoga mat. Sameera's yoga background is vinyasa (flow-based); yoga sculpt (combining yoga with weight and bodyweight exercises); and trauma-informed yoga.
Sameera is currently offering 1:1 virtual yoga classes for Muslims who are looking to become more comfortable with yoga. Taking a class can be intimidating, so a 1:1 class is a great way to gain comfort in the privacy and safety of your own home. Classes are 60-minutes long. Sameera will guide you through a yoga class suited to your level, and provide support with understanding postures, techniques, and breathing. This class is also great for couples who are looking to take a yoga class together! The class recording will be shared for your reference.
