About Me
Family Background: I come from a prominent family in both the South Asian and medical communities. My dad, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Karim, was a renowned scholar and Senior Ophthalmologist at the world-famous St Paul’s Eye Hospital in Liverpool. My mom, Mrs. Hamida Karim, was an accomplished Bengali, Arabic and Qur'an teacher.
Childhood and Education: I was born in Bangladesh and spent a year of my childhood there with four nieces and nephews. I was educated at the Universities of Liverpool (Pharmacology) and Cambridge (Islamic Philosophy).
Career: I have a diverse professional background. I worked for Apple for over ten years as a Senior Specialist and achieved exceptional sales success. I am a former Quran teacher, an Apple Certified Professional, and hold post MBA Professional Membership of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI).
Expertise: I have unparalleled experience in early teenage bereavement and counselling as my dad passed away in 1989. I was a foster carer for many years and have in-depth knowledge in SEND, child development, children's mental health, safeguarding, and guardianship. I am also a Certified Life Coach and Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) in addition to possessing over 20 years knowledge and experience in assisting Muslim communities with matrimonial issues.
Recognition: I appeared on the show "Living the Life" on the Islam Channel as my innovative matrimonial brand, Muslim Marriage Services, the world's only Certified Social Enterprise Muslim matrimony brand, was nominated for the Islam Channel Business Award Startup of the Year in 2019.
Hobbies: Outside of work, I enjoy being a virtual encyclopedia, cultural explorer, and going for long walks. I am a massive supporter of Liverpool Football Club and the Chennai Super Kings (IPL). I also love cycling, photography, and watching cat videos.
